    RICARDO MEDIA Gets Cooking with PublisherElements – Popular Canadian chef’s media division renews agreement for 5 years

    Montreal, Canada, December 14, 2016 – The Media Services division of leading digital solutions company EquiSoft announces the renewal of a five-year agreement with RICARDO MEDIA Inc.  The company will therefore continue to provide RICARDO magazine with its PublisherElements suite of audience and content management tools, as well as across-the-board customer care, operations and hosting services.


    Since starting to work with EquiSoft, RICARDO MEDIA launched an English-language version of its iconic recipe and lifestyle magazine. The new title broke records and earned awards in its first year of publication.

    Expert panel to address anti-spam legislation impact on Canadian publishers

    Industry organizations come together to present “The Publishers’ Guide to CASL Compliance” on Nov. 23 in Toronto



    Toronto, November 1, 2016 – A panel of publishing and legal experts will assemble to address the implications and risks of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Risks to publishers who are found to be non-compliant include class-action lawsuits and fines of up to $ 10 million.


    CASL came into effect in July 2014, creating an entirely new set of parameters for Canada’s publishers and their email distribution operations. A three-year transitionary period expires on July 1, 2017.


    Canadian publishers with email distribution activities are looking to gain a better understanding of the updated regulations and what these changes mean to their business operations.

    Recognizing the significance to the publishing industry, a group of concerned organizations is sponsoring this one-of-a-kind panel session: the Alliance for Audited Media (AAM), CCAB, Division of BPA Worldwide, Circulation Management Association of Canada (CMC), EquiSoft and Magazines Canada.


    “The publishers’ understanding of CASL, its regulations, their implications and the steps to compliance is vital,” said Tim Peel, Vice-President at CCAB.


    “Helping our members stay abreast of this sort of legislative change is our priority, and we’re happy to see this panel come together,” said Matthew Holmes, CEO of Magazines Canada.

    Understanding and complying with CASL represents a significant challenge for the Canadian publishing community. Many questions remain about how to ensure continued compliance as the deadline, set for July 1, 2017, approaches.


    November seminar to provide valuable insights and clear roadmap to CASL compliance


    These questions will be addressed by a panel of publishing industry specialists at a seminar to be held at the Toronto offices of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin on November 23, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. EST. Entitled “The Publishers’ Guide to CASL Compliance,” the seminar is sponsored by EquiSoft, the Alliance for Audited Media, Magazines Canada, Circulation Management Association of Canada (CMC), and the Canadian Circulation Audit Board (CCAB).


    “We felt that assembling a panel of publishing specialists to address the industry’s specific questions would be of great value,” said Joan Brehl, VP/General Manager of the Alliance for Audited Media.

    “We saw the need for this kind of seminar months ago. To this day, compliance issues remain important,” explained Brinda Luckoo, Executive Vice-President, Media Services at EquiSoft.

    The seminar’s panel will be comprised of Derek Lackey, president of the Direct Marketing Association of Canada; Andrew Nunes of the Privacy Practice with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin; Adrienne Rutherford, Media Lawyer; and Vesna Moore, Director of Circulation & CASL Compliance Officer at Annex Business Media.

    Brinda Luckoo Joins EquiSoft

    Ms. Luckoo is an innovative, results-driven marketing and business development executive.
